Driftwood Removal: Day 1 at Richards Beach

Day 1 of Contact Energy's four week project to remove driftwood from the Kawarau Arm. Great to see them doing more to care for the visual amenity of the area. Its a massive project and very complicated but their great staff will work tirelessly for the next month to improve the look and safety of the Kawarau Arm.

With the recent re-evaluation of their role in caring for the Kawarau Arm, Contact Energy are determined to do more for the area and community. It is the first time they have worked past Butchers Drive and we can only imagine how many tonnes will be removed!!

Make sure you pop down to have a look at the progress (safely!) and say kia ora to those working in the cold to get it done! Please be respectful of the people working on site and be sure to keep a safe distance.
