Each month we host a local expert and learn how their work is protecting and restoring one of the most ecologically diverse and modified regions in New Zealand, Central Otago.
We hope that by connecting the local individuals with amazing people and research, a 'ripple effect' of knowledge will empower the community to work together in creating a safer and healthier environment for wildlife and people.

In December, we had the pleasure of hosting Dawn Palmer as our December Ripple Effect guest speaker. Dawn is the project director for the Jobs for Nature ‘Friends of Tucker Beach’ restoration project. This is a three-year project aimed at improving and maintaining the breeding habitat for 3 threatened & one at-risk seasonally migratory bird known to the inland basins of Central Otago. We learnt about the importance of their work, the highs and lows of such a project and how they are tackling weeds, pests and restoration with the help of the local community and volunteers.
