The ProblemLake Dunstan is one of Cromwell’s greatest community assets — but the lake edge does not look after itself.
Much of the land is Crown land administered by LINZ. While LINZ has approved the work, there is limited budget for ongoing local maintenance. CODC does not routinely maintain the area, and lakeside amenity work is not regularly funded by other parties. That means broom, briar and overgrown vegetation can quickly take over. When that happens, public access is lost and the lakefront becomes harder for families, locals and visitors to enjoy. |

The SolutionLocals are stepping up.
The Lake Dunstan Charitable Trust is supporting a newly formed volunteer crew to maintain more than 3km of shoreline from Deadmans Bridge through McNulty Inlet and Lowburn toward the Lowburn boat ramp. The team already has:
